We are developing a series of millimeter wave orthomode transducers. These orthomode transducers are fullband, compact components. They achieve astounding cross-polarization while maintaining Micro Harmonics’ impressively low insertion loss.
The WR-6.5 fullband orthomode transducer was developed as part of our initiative to develop the fullband WR-6.5 hybrid circulator. We are excited to start filling the market need for high performance mmWave orthomode transducers. Over the next three years we plan to develop these orthomode transducers in every standard waveguide band from WR-15 to WR-3.4.
The primary function of an orthomode transducer (OMT) is to separate and combine signals based on their polarization. Polarization refers to the orientation of the electric field of a wave, and OMTs are designed to handle orthogonal polarizations, such as horizontal and vertical. By doing this, an OMT can efficiently split a single incoming signal of arbitrary polarization into two distinct orthogonally polarized components or combine two orthogonally polarized signals into one output.
