Cryogenic Isolators

Standard isolators do not function well, or in some cases, even at all, in low-temperature environments. To solve this problem, Micro Harmonics worked with NASA to create a series of cryogenic millimeter wave components, specifically cryogenic Faraday rotation isolators for this exact purpose. Eight models of the cryogenic isolator are now available. These models cover most frequencies from 26 GHz to 220 GHz. Models at WR-4.3 and WR-3.4 will be added pending customer demand.

GENERAL PRODUCT INFORMATION

The following information pertains to our cryogenic millimeter wave isolator catalog listed below. These isolators are part of a broader range of cryogenic millimeter wave components engineered for exceptional performance in low-temperature environments where standard components fall short.

  • Our cryogenic isolators are routinely tested at 25 K in our cryostat.
  • We use a resistive thin film for isolation that is not in the class of super conductors.
  • The performance has been independently verified down to 1 K by researchers at the University of Chicago and at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory.

CRYOGENIC HYBRID CIRCULATOR

Part of our mission is to “serve customers through the advancement of mm-wave component technology.” So when in 2024 a customer requested a WR-10 cryogenic circulator, we brought together our expertise in cryogenic isolators and our patented hybrid circulators to produce a WR-10 cryogenic hybrid circulator within only two weeks.
